Pensions

As a permanent support employee, you will become a member of the Board’s Defined Benefit Pension plan after 1 year of service.  Annual pension statements will be issued by the Board’s actuaries in the spring of each year.

Currently, the Board contributes 1.1375 times employee contributions into the pension plan.  The current employee contributions are as follows:

7.9% of your monthly earnings up to $5,708.33 per month (year’s maximum pensionable earnings as set out by the Canada Pension Plan).

10% of your monthly earnings you receive in excess of $5,708.33 per month (year’s maximum pensionable earnings).

 

Group Benefits Plan and Extended Health

 

As a permanent employee, you will be able to access and view your benefit entitlements on the Cooperators Benefits Now website.   You can access this information throughout the year.

If you have not accessed the Cooperators Benefits Now website in the past, please view the document on steps to get set up.

You will be able to review your personal information, dependent information, coverage summary for Extended Health and Dental and benefit maximums.

Premium costs for Basic Life Insurance, Basic Accidental Death, Disease and Dismemberment, Long Term Disability are shared 50%-50% between the employee and the Board.  Premium costs for Dental and Extended Health coverage are currently paid 100% by the Board.

The premiums for the Dental and Extended Health shall be paid 100% by the Board provided the combined cost of the premiums does not exceed 4.4% of payroll costs of the group.

If you wish (as a permanent employee) to have additional coverage for you or your spouse, voluntary (optional) plans are available for Life Insurance and Accidental Death, Disease and Dismemberment.
